An uncommon conversation between guitar & percussion,
composition & improvisation.
Originally from Iran and Israel, the two internationally renowned musicians met here in Vancouver and very are excited to bring together for the first time, the traditional sounds of the middle east with their own original music.
About Hamin:
Hamin grew up in a musical family where he was exposed to traditional Persian Music at an early age. He has focused on adapting his drumming style and technique to accommodate many different genres of music. He has toured as a member of the Dastan Ensemble, one of Iran’s most well-known Persian Classical music ensembles and has performed with many of Iran’s greatest musicians and singers. He currently lives in Vancouver, BC where he teaches Persian drumming. He is currently involved in projects such as the Vashaan Ensemble, Qalandar with Gordon Grdina, and Nava Hamnavazan Ensemble which recently toured with renowned Iranian singer, Salar Aghili.
About Itamar:
Recipient of the 2014 ACUM Prize for Special Achievement
in Jazz and the prestigious 2014 Landau Prize, Itamar Erez is an
internationally renowned composer and guitarist who has shared the stage with such musicians as Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Tomatito, Avishai Cohen, Jean-Louis Matinier, Zohar Fresco, and others.
Itamar performs internationally and gives workshops and
masterclasses, teaching his unique approach to music and
guitar playing. During 2014-15, Itamar performed in Canada, USA, Germany, Holland, Austria, Cyprus, Israel, India, Tunisia, and Colombia.
Itamar is currently working on new material for his next CD, and is on the guitar faculty at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra school of music.
